Elephant Country Black Pepper is sourced from Martin Rabha, a Social Worker and pepper farmer of Jharapata village in Kamrup (Rural) district of Assam, India in the Eastern Himalayas. Efforts to cultivate pepper by around 200 farmers in the area have helped bring about nearly a 30% increase in their income and dissuaded elephants from interference with their crops. As elephants tend to avoid spices like pepper as their food, pepper cultivation in the region has helped reduce the conflict between humans and elephants.
