Everyone in India is familiar with a tamarind chutney, the one used extensively in chaats, gol gappas and the like. In our family, however, the grannies were of the opinion that the game must always be a raw mango sounth game, Made from sun-dried raw mango slices (in Hindi we call it khatai). We drizzled it on everything, aloo tikki chaat, papdi chaat, just as is in a bowl of yogurt, on the side with parathas or a quick shot of sounth, some water and a cube of ice.
